Stylist Alissa Hicks shows you how to use accessories to make your outfit shine:

Model Barbara Gillaspie was a vision in black (above), and since this sleek and sophisticated ensemble was more on the minimal side, I played up this outfit with bold accessories.

The jacket left room for a fun necklace, so I chose this large gold piece to accentuate Barbara’s neckline and give the outfit some flare. I also chose simple drop earrings that tied the black and the gold in nicely.

Normally, I would use just one statement piece, but with such a simple outfit, a gold chunky bracelet gave the look what it needed.

We also loved this Diane Von Furstenberg clutch, which was pretty and a tad edgy with its snakeskin pattern.

Barbara is wearing: Damee jacket, $149; cream leggings, $89 // Necklace, Rodeo Drive 502.425.8999, $262; Bracelets, Rodeo Drive, $130, $108, $86; Earrings, Rodeo Drive, $78; Clutch by Diane Von Furstenberg, Rodeo Drive, $268

I chose to play up this fun and elegant teal jacket paired with cream leggings in a simple way. Since the jacket was more of a statement piece, I went more minimal with her accessories.

The neckline of the jacket leaves room for a pretty necklace, so I chose this pearl strand that can be worn several different ways. Here, I tied it in a way that would elongate the neck.

Since we went with a larger necklace, I chose smaller hoop earrings so as to not make her upper half too busy. Some fun and interchangeable bangle bracelets add some flare to her wrists, which her jacket shows off, and this DVF clutch is simple and elegant for both day or night but also pops against the bright jacket.
